| #2 | Its a nice site. I discoverd it by chance from google search and was thrilled to get a touch of Oriya culture in all its pages. Since I stay far away from Orissa, the feel of Oriyahood while I open the site is really very exciting. |

hi all i very much appreciate the site and offer kudos to the team which has come up with such a fabulous site especially for oriya women. i always wanted a forum to air my thoughts, but couldn't find the right platform. i think this is the right one and being a working lady i still can find a few seconds to pour my heart out for a cause inspite of the time constraints. i will certainly keep in touch. once again thanks for such a novel start up for oriya women. i will keep in touch. regards nibedita |

unique ness of orissa i saw this site by chance and am very happy,i feel connected to it.oriya culture is unique in the sense that it can mix with any culture just like potatoes can mix with any vegetable, but we should try to maintain our identity.i have stayed more time outside orissa and have proudly claimed to be a oriya.we dontneed any accomplishment to be proud of our culture, the fact that we are oriya is enough reason.no other culture is so much giving in nature and people so simple.i wish this site all best wishes |

Dear Oriya Nari Team, Congratulations for creating such a nice site for Oriya women across the globe. I have a doubt about the oriya spelling in "Oriya Festivals" tab. It's written "Parba Paarbani" in oriya. Should it not be "Parba Parbaani"? I might be wrong, but somehow i remember reading it as "Parba Parbaani" in books. Thank you. |

Now that you have mentioned it, we think, Nishi you are correct. It would be interesting for you to know that we initially mentioned the spelling as "Parba Parbaani". Please see the image of the earlier spelling attached at the bottom of this message to find how we spelt it earlier. But then someone pointed out that it should have been "Parba Paarbani". The Oriya dictionaries however do not mention any such word. (Though they mention "Paarbana" the word "Paarbani" is missing). However we thought that it was a matter of usage and that in Oriya homes "Parba Paarbani" might have found colloquial acceptance. So after "Parba Parbaani" appeared for about one month, we changed it to "Parba Paarbani". We should admit that we had done it without ourselves being fully convinced about it. We expected reactions from visitors. And now it has come. We request for more opinion from our visitors: Should we go back to our earlier spelling of "Parba Parbaani" ?

Dear Oriya Nari Team, First of all, thank you for resolving the Parbaani-Paarbani issue. Here I am again with a very minor issue. Couldn't help but bring your notice to this. The last reply that I posted had a word - peacocck - Mayura pakhi. I know the spelling is wrong. But the site is not allowing me to post the reply unless I changed the slang word within the word. Same is the case with my name. Actually It is Nishi-ta. When I tried posting on the website for the first time, I got the error - please remove s-h-i-t (of course without the -) from your post. I was shocked and went crazy to find out that word from my small post. Then I realized it was in my name! I never realized my name had a bad word within it . Anyway, that's not the point. What I am trying to say is when the reply is scanned for such words, it should pick full words and not sub-strings within a string. You can check for spaces from both sides or may be hyphen or underscore as I was able to write s-h-i-t. I know doing is difficult than saying. This one definitely is not a priority and we hardly come across such words. So come to it when you have plenty of time. And I am happy with Nishi also, as most of friends call that only. Thanks & Regards, Nishi |

| #12 | We understand your embarrassment. Even we face such rejections when we post some of our messages to this Message Board. Solving this is very easy and can be done by us instantly. But we have refrained from doing so. In fact, this stringent pofanity filter was set by us deliberately. It was because some time back we found that certain very offensive messages were posted by some one on this Message Board. The profanity filter was activated by us thereafter.
However if it is found that such filter is causing problems for the posting of decent messages also, we may consider relaxing it a bit. But we would like to wait and watch a little before doing so.

| #19 | Hi,
your site is very much help full for we oriya girls as well as other girls if they will find the site.
Yesterday only I took a print out of brata katha from your site.
But it would be very good if you can update the home page, counsling section and persionality session atleast once in a month.
Actually i don't know how much cost you have to bear for mantaining the site .but if possible please consider this point.
It will definitely help in improving the site.

| #26 | Its a great site for all of us to discuss something in our own mother tongue.
Hats-off to the ORIYANARI team.
But I've one small request.............
It'll be great If we can write/read in oriya font. Sometimes it becomes very difficult to write in english with Odiya pronunciation.
Hope Oriyateam will consider this request.
Thanks n Regards Nita. |

Please keep the site in English only- my Oriya is not too good to write in Oriya. The number of contributions will drop otherwise. |

| #31 | We have deleted the following message posted by one of the participants in this chain:
Jeumane jane kabira kabitwa ku anusheelana kalabele Nari o purusha madyhare parthakya dekhanti semananku mu uttama naaree rupe bibechana kare nahin. Aapana jadi nijaku odia boli ete garba karuchanti, tebe eparjyanta odia nalekhi oriya lekhuchanti kahinki? Kan eita aapanankara odisha prati mamata? Ehi comments tiku madhya delete karidebe, nahele aapananka websitere narimanankara apamaana heijiba!! "jatra narjyastu pujyante ramante tatra debatah" dhanyabaad. We think we ought to clarify why this message was decided to be deleted in the first place. Since the name of the participant appeared to be that of a man we requested him on this Message Board itself to inform us whether he was a man or woman. This information was required since men are not allowed to participate on this Message Board. But instead of replying to our specific query he has posted the above message.
Now why we have made it a policy not to allow men to post messages is a different issue. It is primaily to maintain certain degree of decency and create an atmosphere where all our sisters could feel at home to express their feelings that we wanted to maintain it as a 'women only' forum. It is like reserving a space for us women alone. There is nothing wrong in it, and we are at liberty to adopt any policy that suits our principles. It should not be confused with discriminating between men and women in creative activities such as poetry. If we have deleted a poem posted by a man, it doesn't mean that we don't want them to write poems and publish the same. It's simply a message that this forum is not for them and that there are many other forums where their poems can be published. But please let us be what we wish to be. Allow us to follow our own principles and do not violate the rules set for this Message Board.
Secondly on the use of the word 'Odia' instead of 'Oriya', we would be quite happy to use it once it beomes official. Now the bill is still pending in the Parliament to be passed. Once it is done you will find the word 'Odia' frequently being used in all messages that we ourselves post on this site. (Of course the name and URL of the site will continue to remain as it is). But no one will be forced to use the word. We are emotionally committed to use 'Odia' for 'Oriya' as much as any one else and are eagerly waiting for the day when it becomes official.
